A Big Pup!
We wanted company for our other rescue Boxer May.
We were actively checking in with shelters and online adoption posts to find a friend for May. After spotting an ad from a rescue shelter in Kerry, we had a home inspection video call and interview, and once our reference from the vet checked out, we were on our way to pick up a 10 month old male Boxer!
Fast forward a week and I've been pee'd on, lots of painful whips of his big strong tail, had various things chewed, and now I'm on my way to the vet because he's swallowed a sock!
After an injection to make him throw up, and another to make him stop, we head home with instruction from the vet that the injection would make him sleepy - it didn't.
This is my first puppy and I'm on a steep learning curve (this is my partners 3rd puppy so he's a lot more relaxed about everything than I am!) It took the best part of a week to settle on a name for him, I very nearly called him Little F**ker but settled on Hank, it suits him.
He's extremely cute, fun and full of energy. He's had 2 homes before ours so obviously he's a little unsettled, we're not sure if he's being a bit bold to see what he can get away with or if he just hasn't been trained yet.
A few (several) Youtube videos later (I'm a fan of Victoria Stilwell's methods), he's not pulling constantly on the leash or using my arm as a chew toy so we're making progress! In the past few weeks I've learnt that this puppy will eat almost anything, he can do back flips, undo bows on seat cushions, and wants to run after every bird he see's - especially swans!
Despite all the hard work, he's a great addition to the family and he's here to stay.
Hello
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blog that made me smile 😊. I’m not sure if the last photo says ‘I got your back here sis’ or ‘Hold on there, I’m the boss round here now’. Either way it’s very cute! 🐶
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comment...he's definitely not the boss around here, May puts him in his place when needed!!
